<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily correct color misalignment of an image and the absolute position of the image. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus includes a pattern forming means for forming a predetermined pattern for correcting a position shift of the image, and a detecting means for detecting the pattern for correcting the position shift of the image formed by the pattern forming means.
