<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin function improving agent and skin function improving foods which can ameliorate and prevent skin irritation and skin diseases by enhancing skin functions from the inside of the body with no side effects. <P>SOLUTION: The skin function improving agent contains, as the main component, a mushroom water extract extracted from a fruit body of Grifola frondosa or a dry powder of the fruit body, or a water-soluble β-glucan yielded by subjecting the mushroom water extract to an α-amylase treatment, and then adding an alcohol to remove protein from a component precipitated and separated.
