PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external section specified sound recognition method of a headset with a microphone by which an external specified sound, such as alarm whistle, alarm sound, and siren can be recognized. SOLUTION: A headset body 1 is equipped with a speaker 2 and the microphone 3. When a signal from a sound source 5, such as, a music player and a mobile phone is listened to using the speaker 2 of the headset body 1, while the external sound is picked up by the microphone 3, the external sound picked up by the microphone 3 is canceled, to make the signal from the sound source 5 easy to hear. An external specified sound detecting circuit 9 is provided which detects the external specified sound such as the external alarm whistle, alarm sound and siren; and when the external specified sound detecting circuit 9 detects the external specified sound in the external sound, the signal from the sound source 5 is cut off and the external specified sound is listened to.
