PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of continuously and efficiently reading double-sided documents and being inexpensively and compactly constituted with high productivity. SOLUTION: This image forming device includes a document feeder having a document mounting part for mounting a plurality of documents having image information on both surfaces, a separation feeding part for feeding the documents by being separated one by one from the document mounting part, a reading conveying part located on a downstream side of the separation feeding part to convey documents to a document reading part, a switchback part for conveying-in the both-sided document after reading a first surface of the document, reversing the document to read the second surface of the document and subsequently conveying the document to the reading conveying part, and a reverse paper discharge part conveying-in the document after reading the both surfaces, reversing the document to be aligned to a direction of the document placed before reading the document and subsequently discharging the document. The switchback part is provided with a means for temporarily staying at least one sheet of the documents. Switchback of the document is performed, and at the same time, another document can be read, and the plurality of both-sided documents can be continuously and efficiently read.
