PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin image recording apparatus enabling a user to easily take out a recorded medium on which an image is recorded and discharged inside a trunk. SOLUTION: When large size paper 250 is stored in a paper feeding tray 160, a rear guide 165 is disposed at a first position. When small size paper 251 is stored in the paper feeding tray 160, the rear guide 165 is disposed at a second position. While the rear guide 165 is at the first position, a rear end portion 196 is supported by the rear guide 165 to regulate posture change of a sub tray 183. Therefore, an upper surface 193 of the sub tray 183 is supported at predetermined height. The rear guide 165 is moved from the first position to the second position, thereby releasing the supporting of the sub tray 183 by the rear guide 165. Consequently, the sub tray 183 rotates to move the upper surface 193 to the paper feeding tray 160 side, and a space on a paper discharging tray 180 at an opening 206 is downwardly expanded.
