The present invention relates to a composition formed of metal pigments and to a process for their preparation. The composition is composed of metal particles FP and a liquid, the liquid being an ester of a fatty acid R'-COOR in which R' is a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic group having from 9 to 20 carbon atoms and R is an alkyl having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms. It is obtained by a process which consists in introducing starting particles of the metal (SP) into a liquid vehicle and in subjecting the mixture thus obtained to milling, said liquid vehicle being said fatty acid ester. Uses: preparation of paints, of inks, of plastics or of cosmetic compositions.
