A pressure regulator 8 for a compressed air brake system including a compressor 7 supplying air to reservoirs 1, 2 feeding brake actuators via a control valve 5 actuated by a pedal 6 comprises a measuring chamber 9, provided with a discharge orifice 11 and containing a pressure-gauge element 13 consisting of a bellows diaphragm 14 within which is a gas under pressure, and a regulating chamber 18 having an inlet orifice 19, an orifice 22 for admission to chamber 9 and an orifice 23 for discharge to atmosphere, the orifices 22, 23 being located in opposite facing relation so that they can be selectively shut-off by means of a single obturator constituted by a valve-disc 24 fixed to a stem 25 welded to diaphragm 14. In a modification, Fig. 9, the bellows arrangement is replaced by a piston 61 movable in chamber 9 against the pressure of compressed gas in an auxiliary chamber 66.
