A navigation service providing system and method are provided to control the scale of map data according to a moving speed of a terminal and output the map data such that a user is able to conveniently use the map data. A navigation service providing system which provides navigation service to a mobile communication terminal(50) includes a position information server(100) which has a geography information database, searches the database for geography information and/or POI(Point Of Interest) information with respect to an arbitrary point and provides position information data adjusted according to the moving speed of the mobile communication terminal to the terminal.
