A REGION BASED IMAGE RETRIEVAL METHOD USING REGION WEIGHTS

A regional based image retrieval method using region weights is provided calculate region weights by considering a spatial place and a region size together in order to improve the accuracy of image retrieval. A method for retrieving an image from a database comprises a query from a sample received from a user(110); a query point as to the query and the distance from images of the database by a distance function(120); returning the k number of images to a user in the order in which the smaller distance value has higher priority(140); configuring an initial region class based on the regions in which received images are configured(150); obtaining a new query point from the determination of an optimized class hierarchy(160); and obtaining a updated weight value(170).
