A recording technique parameter adaptation method and a recording apparatus embodying the method are provided to adapt a proper width of recording technique determination window for ISI(Inter-Symbol Interference) control, to control RF level variance more effectively, and to obtain a feedback error from a normal process without recognizing the property of a medium. A recording technique parameter indexing method is characterized in that recording technique parameters are indexed by the pattern of bits having a fixed length w; the indexing bit pattern is used to index the recording parameter of the writable bit in the predetermined location p of the indexing bit pattern; the recording parameter includes at least one of the start time, end time, and height of the write pulse; when NRZ sequence is recorded in a medium, the recording procedure is to observe the NRZ sequence through a horizontal slide-window having a width W, and the horizontal sliding window moves bit by bit about one channel cluck in the recording direction of the NRZ sequence; and the recording technique parameter indexed by the indexing bit pattern is used to define one or a series of write pulses only in case the bit pattern on the horizontal sliding window is an indexing bit pattern.
