An ophthalmologic apparatus is provided to facilitate the alignment of an apparatus for a subject eye without being restricted by the property of the subject eye, the environment of equipment of the apparatus etc. An ophthalmologic apparatus consists of: a measuring unit(4) for conducting inspection or the measurement of a subject eye; a projection optical system(30) projecting the alignment index of a predetermined shape on the anterior segments of the subject eye; a imaging optical system(20) taking a picture of the anterior segments image including the projected alignment index image with the two-dimensional image pickup device; and a programmable logic controller(70) detecting the alignment index image based on the output signal from the image pickup device, and detecting the alignment state of a measuring unit about the subject eye based on the detection result. The programmable logic controller detects brightness distribution in a image based on a output signal from the image pickup device and in order to detect the alignment index based on the detection result, changes the projecting quantity of light of the alignment index and one-way of gain of the image pickup device.
