A record/playback method and apparatus of a recording medium are provided to ensure stable record/playback at same time as securing the stability of servo by compensating tilt between the recording medium and record/playback apparatus. A record/playback method of a recording medium comprises a step for projecting beam to the recording medium and receiving the beam reflected or diffracted from the recording medium(S10), a step for determining the inclination of a pick-up unit toward the recording medium by using the symmetry of the beam received from the recording medium(S30), and a step for controlling the slope of the pick-up unit according to the determination result(S50).
