PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator apparatus which facilitates getting on the escalator, especially at the lower part, prevents from falling, and improves safety in getting on and getting off. SOLUTION: The escalator apparatus has a main frame 4 straddlingly arranged over an upper-story floor 2 and a lower-story floor 3, an endlessly connected steps 18 which circularly move between a forward passage and a backward passage provided in the main frame 4, landing floors 10F, 11F provided on the upper-story floor 2 and the lower-story floor 3 of the main frame 4, and a comb plate 30 provided at the position engaged with the steps 18 of the landing floors 10F, 11F. The maximum distance, where the step horizontally moves with a following step each other from the root of a comb plate stile of the landing floor 11F of the lower-story floor to the upward direction, is set to be 60-85 cm, and the maximum distance, where the step horizontally moves with the following step each other from the root of the comb plate stile of the landing floor 10F of the upper-story floor to the downward direction is set to be 45-60 cm.
