PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of burying retrieval information and capable of evading unnecessary burying of the retrieval information. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus for printing out image data comprises: a retrieval information acquisition means for acquiring retrieval information to be used for retrieving the image data; a retrieval accuracy calculation means for calculating retrieval accuracy when retrieving the image data by the acquired retrieval information; a retrieval information adding means for adding the retrieval information to the image data in accordance with a result of the retrieval accuracy calculation means; and a printing means for printing out the image data to which the retrieval information is added.
