PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a shock absorber capable of reducing the variety of braking force without improving the dimensional accuracy of a piston and a cylinder. SOLUTION: The shock absorber 10 includes a casing 16 filled with working fluid F inside; a cylinder element 20 stored in the casing 16 and forming rooms inside/outside; a sliding shaft 12 penetrating the cylinder element 20, forming a flow passage between the cylinder element 20 and the sliding shaft 12, and interlocking with a moving contactor; and a piston 11 fixed to the sliding shaft 12 to be stored in the cylinder element 20, having an outer diameter larger than a diameter of the sliding shaft 12, moving the working fluid F between the inside/outside of the cylinder element 20 by sliding while keeping watertightness with an inner peripheral surface of the cylinder element 20, and receiving braking force by circulation resistance when the working fluid F passes through the flow passage.
