PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition, which can increase its hardness without deteriorating processing property such as rolling property, for a belt and a rubber belt. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for the belt is principally composed of a hydrogenated nitrile rubber containing unsaturated metal carboxylate and used for transmission and delivery. The rubber composition and the rubber belt are prepared by using the hydrogenated nitrile rubber containing unsaturated metal carboxylate as a matrix rubber, adding 20-80 pts.mass silica and 0.2-10 pts.mass organic peroxide to 100 pts.mass matrix rubber, and adding heat resistant short fiber.
