<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrial applications of a voltage-sensitive proton channel of mammals such as a human or a mouse which are accomplished in the course of the study for elucidating the molecular basis of the voltage-sensitive proton channel of the mammals such as the human or the mouse. <P>SOLUTION: Search is made on the basis of the known sea squirt VSP (voltage-sensitive phosphatase, non-patent document 1) DNA sequence from the genome to carry out retrieval of molecules to be candidates for the proton channel of the mammals. As a result, a new cDNA exhibiting a sequence similar to the structures of S1 to S4 of a voltage-sensitive channel (figure 1) is discovered from the information about the murine and the human cDNA. The mVSOP1 (murine voltage-sensitive proton channel) cDNA is integrated into a vector and forcedly expressed in a human established cell and a current is measured.
