<p>The method involves determining a maximum waste gate position for actual operating point of an internal combustion engine, and determining a desired engine torque. All combinations of waste gate-positions and variable turbine geometry (VTG) positions possible for the actual operating point are determined such that the torque is adjusted for one of the waste gate positions between the maximum waste gate position and a closed waste gate. One of the combinations, which have best-possible exhaust gas turbocharger (ATL)-efficiency, is selected for the operating point.</p> |
