<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely identify each file even if a part of a character string constituting its name is omitted when a list of file names is displayed. <P>SOLUTION: When a list of file names is displayed on a display 8, the display widths WF of file names are compared with the displayable area WD of the display 8 (Step S14). It is determined whether a three-digit number string, which is a specific character string, is included in a file name whose display width WF is larger than the displayable area WD (Step S16). When the specific character string is included, the file name is displayed, in a list, in a displaying format in which its file name head part, its specific character string part and its extension are remained and the other parts are omitted.
