PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coil component without an unnecessary stress to a ring core when a terminal clasp is fixed to the ring core, and to provide a method for manufacturing the coil component. SOLUTION: A stepped notch 25 is formed at one end part 23 of the ring core 20 of the coil component, and a part of the stepped notch 25 is specified by a deep bottom part. A terminal electrode 30 is bend-formed in an approximately C-shape and composed of the terminal clasp having a one-end-side facing part 35. In a displacement step, the terminal electrode 30 is displaced from an outer circumferential surface 21 side to an inner periphery surface 22 side of the ring core 20 so that the one-end-side facing part 35 passes through the part of the stepped notch 25 specified by the deep bottom part. Further, in a step of fixing the terminal clasp, the terminal electrode 30 is displaced to a circumferential direction of the ring core 20 along the inner periphery surface 22 and the outer circumferential surface 21.
