PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video and sound reproducing method and a video and sound reproducing device capable of reproducing sound with proper volume even through sound output destinations are changed. SOLUTION: The video and sound reproducing device includes a display means DYP, a first sound outputting means SP1 and a connecting means CNT for connecting a second sound outputting means SP2 connected to the outside and the first sound outputting means SP1, wherein the connecting means CNT has a judging means 101 for judging whether the volume of sound output from the second sound outputting means SP2 exceeds a first threshold when changing a sound output destination to the second sound outputting means SP2, and an initial volume setting means 103 for setting the volume of sound output from the second sound outputting means SP2 to the first threshold when the judging means 101 judges that the volume of the sound output from the second sound outputting means SP2 exceeds the first threshold.
