PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic pigment powder which can be suitably used for manufacturing a dispersion having high stability with a passage of time and giving high contrast as a color filter, and its manufacturing method.

SOLUTION: This organic pigment powder comprises a fine powder of an organic pigment, and a polymeric compound having a mass average molecular weight of ≥1,000. The organic pigment powder is prepared by mixing an organic pigment solution, which is produced by dissolving the organic pigment in a first solvent to be a good solvent containing no organic acid, with a second solvent to be a poor solvent for the organic pigment, thereafter precipitating a fine particle of a nanometer size of the organic pigment in the mixed solution, and removing the solvents thereafter.
