PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant for hot plastic working that has excellent lubrication property and anti-seizing properties between a mandrel bar and a material to be rolled, when seamless steel pipes made of alloy steel, e.g. stainless steel are produced. SOLUTION: The lubricant for hot plastic processing comprises (a)≤35 mass % of graphite, (b)≤35 mass % of zirconia, and (c)≤35 mass % of layered silicate minerals selected from the group consisting of kaolinite, muscovite, montmorillonite, sepiolite, magnesia mica and synthetic mica based on the whole lubricant calculated as 100 mass %.
