The invention relates to a mobile verification device for checking the authenticity of identification documents, particularly travel documents, in a particular ergonomic and security-related form geared to mobile use. The verification device is accordingly small and lightweight and has holding and carrying devices for mobile use which allow comfortable handling and ensure that it is difficult to take the device by force. To protect the user from injury if it is taken by force, the connection between the authorized user and the device is provided with a predetermined breaking point which, when broken, simultaneously prevents operation of the device. Breakage of the predetermined breaking point also triggers an audible alarm signal indicating that the device is being taken and initiates continual position-finding for the device in order to make it easier to find it. |
