The device has a telescopic extendable and lockable part (15) and a body sided fixed part (16), where the extendable and lockable part of a load carrier is lockable in its interposed and extracted end positions by a rotary latch, which is spring loaded at a locking position. The latch is attached with the fixed part and is provided with pushing surfaces, which are tapered in opening of respective catch holes. The openings of the catch holes are formed in a hook shape, and rest at guide openings (63, 64).
