An automotive body (2) painting assembly has a drying station with a drying tunnel (6) with an inert gas atmosphere and gas heater. The drying tunnel is followed by an ultraviolet radiation chamber (7) and is also filled with inert gas. The body panels are exposed to ultraviolet lamps (8, 9) in the chamber, from which surplus heat is removed by a cooling medium that returns to the drying tunnel where it surrenders heat to the inert gas.
