Self-ejecting clutch-controlled gearbox and associated shifting method

The gearbox has primary and secondary shafts connected together by gear pairs forming speed ratio, where the primary shaft is non concentric. Each gear pair has a wheel connected in rotation to the primary shaft, and an idle pinion (15) mounted on the secondary shaft. A jaw clutching sleeve (27) assures change of the speed ratio. The sleeve is associated to the idle pinion and another idle pinion that are provided with jaw clutches (40). The jaw clutches and the idle pinions are auto-ejectable to eject one ratio when a new ratio is engaged without torque break. An independent claim is also included for a method for changing the speed ratio raised with a positive engine torque for passing from an initial ratio to a final ratio.
