A photographic film unit Fig. 1 comprising a photo-sensitive sheet 12 bound in face-to-face contact with a second sheet 14 by a binding strip 24 and having attached at one end a collapsible container 16 containing processing liquid 18 is adapted at the trailing edge 28 to allow the escape of gas entrained ahead of the processing liquid during spreading of the latter from the ruptured container 16 by processing rollers in the processing of the film unit. The sheet 14 may have openings 54 and the sheet 12 may have notches in the trailing edge 28 Fig. 4, the binding strip 24 not being adhered to sheets 12 and 14 in the vicinity of the notches to provide channels through which gas can escape, any excess processing liquid being accomodated in the openings 54. The edge of the binding strip which is folded under to contact sheet 12 at the trailing edge 28 may be long enough for the unadhered channels between the strip and sheet 12 to be squeezed shut by the processing rollers thus preventing the escape of processing liquid. |
