A scene extraction section (11) extracts from an inputted moving image a scene where a face image of at least one person is continuously imaged. A representative-face-image extraction section (12) extracts from the extracted scene a full-face image. Out of the remaining face images of the person represented by the extracted full-face image, a face-image-for-registration extraction section (13) extracts from a scene a face image that is used for registration of various kinds and matches pickup conditions. A face image registration section (14) registers in a face image dictionary (15) the extracted representative face image and the extracted face image for registration in a manner where they are associated with each other. As a result, various face images that can be used for authentication are registered in the dictionary without the user taking much time.
