An electrophoretic image display is provided to simplify the manufacturing process by applying common voltage by forming a single layered metal conductor. A first substrate(B1) has a pixel region(P) including a switching region(S). A second substrate(B2) is place facing the first substrate. A TFT(T) formed on the first switching area is used for a switching element. A pixel electrode(121) positioned in the pixel region is connected to the TFT. A common electrode(111) is placed on a plane of the second substrate. A charge layer(130) on the bottom of the common electrode comprises a microcapsule(131) and a binder. A conductor(150a) on the outside of the charge layer is connected to the common voltage applying pad(123) on the first substrate, common electrode of the second substrate. |
