PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process cartridge that achieves stabilization of charging uniformity in a long-term use, when charged by a charging member with small surface roughness. SOLUTION: The process cartridge includes a photoreceptor and a contact charging member and is removably attached to an apparatus body. In the process cartridge, the photoreceptor has recesses on a surface, and a major axis diameter of the surface opening of each recess is≤10μm and a minor axis diameter thereof is≤1.0μm. Also, a distance between the deepest part and the opening surface of each recess is≥0.3μm. A square region B with a side of 100μm parallel to the rotation direction is arranged in a region A of totaled 100 places, which are obtained by quadrisectioning the photoreceptor surface in the rotation direction and equally dividing the surface into 25 sections in the direction perpendicular to the rotation direction. When equally divided into 500 sections by 499 straight lines perpendicular to the rotation direction of each region B, the sections of≥400 lines among 499 straight lines are overlapped with the recesses in each region B, and the ten point average roughness of the surface of the charging member is smaller than 5.0μm.
