<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of determining a particulate amount accumulated on a particulate filter, far more reliable than a known model and actually practicable in an engine central control unit being currently used. <P>SOLUTION: The method of determining the particulate amount (m<SB>s</SB>) accumulated on the particulate filter is provided for determining a change in the spatial distribution of particulates on the particulate filter and/or a change in the physicochemical properties of the particulates as a function the operated condition of an engine and the past accumulation of the particulates on the particulate filter. It comprises a determining step of determining the number of reference values (β<SB>MAP</SB>) of parameters (β) which define a relationship between the particulate amount (m<SB>s</SB>) accumulated on the particulate filter and pressure drop (Δ<SB>DPF</SB>) of the particulate filter, in the form of a map, the reference values (β<SB>MAP</SB>) relating to individual constant engine operated conditions corresponding to specified particulate accumulated conditions of the particulate filter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
