PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user-friendly vacuum cleaner which achieves a reduction in force to pull out a power cord while retaining the dust removing performance of a dust collecting bag. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner is equipped with: an electric fan chamber 22 for housing an electric fan 12; a dust collecting chamber 17 for housing the dust collecting bag 19 for trapping dust; a partition wall 23 for partitioning the electric fan chamber 22 and the dust collecting chamber 17; a cord reel (not shown) for reeling the power code (not shown) to house the power code; and a vibrating plate 26 for applying vibrations to the dust collecting bag 19 while interlocking with the rotational movements of a rotating lever (not shown) which rotates by interlocking with the cord reel rotating when the power code is pulled out. A rotating shaft (not shown) of the vibrating plate 26 is positioned at a height of the center of the partition wall 23, and the height of the vibrating plate 26 is reduced to half. Consequently, the small force to pull out the power cord 28 is required with the torque for rotating the vibrating plate 26 reduced, and operability is improved.
