<p>The capacity of data recording is expanded by allowing an expressible value per pixel to be not less than a ternary from the past binary as a hologram recording/reproducing system. In the past, the binary was expressed by two types of amplitude values "0" and "1," but a ternary of "0," "1," and "-1" (amplitude "1" X phase "p") is ensured to be expressed by combining phase values of "0" and "p," for example, with respect to the amplitude values "0" and "1." Specifically, a binary data string composed of "0" and "1" is converted into a ternary data string composed of "0," "1," and "-1" according to a predetermined coding rule. A pixel of value "0" is assigned amplitude "0," a pixel of value "1" is assigned amplitude "1"(phase "0"), and a pixel of value "-1" is assigned amplitude "1" and phase "p" to make recording. This makes it possible to expand the capacity of the data recording.</p> |
