<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress fog and carrier adhesion. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device includes: a developing roller 3 that conveys developer to a photoreceptor 51; a bias voltage application means 110 for applying a developing bias to the developing roller; and a control means 150 for controlling the bias voltage application means in order to apply the developing bias under predetermined conditions. When the developing bias to be applied in order to develop toner on a photoreceptor is T1 relative to the time average value, if the developing bias to be applied in order to return toner to the developing roller is T2 relative to the time average value, the time for the potential from the peak potential of the development side potential to 1/10 of peak-to-peak potential is T3, and the time for the potential from the peak potential of the reverse development side potential to 1/10 of peak-to-peak potential is T4, the control means controls the bias voltage application means so as to satisfy relational expressions given below: (1)T1/(T1+T2)>T3/(T3+T4) and (2) 0.3<T1/(T1+T2)<0.45. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
