PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an SH type bulk wave resonator which has a large electromechanical coupling coefficient K<SP>2</SP>and small spuriousness. SOLUTION: The SH type bulk wave resonator has at least one IDT electrode on a crystal substrate of about +90°or about -90°inψ, where a cut surface and an elastic wave propagation direction of the crystal substrate are (0°,θ,ψ) in Euler angle representation. The IDT electrode is made of aluminum, 0°≤θ≤95°or 151°≤θ≤180°holds in Euler angle representation, and t/λ≤4 also holds, where (t) represents the thickness of the crystal substrate,λrepresents the wavelength of an elastic wave, and t/λrepresents a standardized substrate thickness.
