<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the position of a toner pattern even while simultaneously forming images on a large number of recording media. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a function of adjusting the position of forming a developer image on a recording medium based on quantity of light reflected from the developer image formed on an image carrier. The image forming apparatus includes, for example, a light emitting means, a detecting means, a determination means, and a light quantity control means. The light emitting means emits light to be irradiated on the image carrier. The detecting means detects quantity of light which is reflected from the ground of the image carrier. The determination means determines whether a difference between the quantities of light detected at a first point of time and a second point of time (later than the first one), exceeds a predetermined threshold or not. If the difference exceeds the predetermined threshold, the light quantity control means increases the quantity of light emitted from the light emitting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
