PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve at least part of the problem that a suitable stretching can not be given corresponding to the connection structure of an ink ribbon and of the problem that a core can not be rotated stably. SOLUTION: An ink ribbon adjusting device 20 is equipped with a paying-out spinning part (paying-out unit 22) for rotating the paying-out core 69 by the manner that an ink ribbon unit 67 equipped with the paying-out core 69 and a winding core 70 for winding the ink ribbon 68 payed out from the paying-out core 69 contacts the paying-out core 69 from the shaft direction for the paying-out core 69 and the winding core 70 in the state of being held along with a ribbon path 90 formed in a tape cartridge 60 and a winding spinning part (winding unit 23) for rotating the winding core 70 with contacting the winding core 70 from the shaft direction. The adjustment is carried out with rotating at least either the paying-out spinning part or the winding spinning part in the direction for shortening the length of the ink ribbon 68 held on the ribbon path 90.
