An AC generator improved in performance of cooling a regulator assembly and a commutator by reducing an occupying space in the circumferential direction of the regulator assembly in a rear blacket and preventing the air flow which has cooled the regulator assembly and the air which has cooled the commutator from interfering with each other. The nearly C-shaped commutator is arranged around the rotary shaft and the regulator assembly is arranged between the ends of the nearly C-shaped commutator. A brush holder portion, a regulator circuit storing portion, and a connector portion which are constituent parts of the regular assembly have their centers located on the same plane including the center of the rotary shaft. Partition walls for blocking the flow in the circumferential direction of the air which is taken in from an inlet hole to cool the commutator and a regulator circuit and separating the air flow into a cooling air passage on the commutator side for cooling the commutator and a cooling air passage on the regulator circuit side for cooling the regulator circuit are formed in a protruding manner on the inner wall surface of the rear blacket. |
