PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distributed optical fiber sensor capable of measuring precisely a strain and/or a temperature.
SOLUTION: In this distributed optical fiber sensor of the present invention for measuring the strain and/or the temperature, using a Brillouin scattering phenomenon, a main light pulse and a sub-light pulse having the maximum light intensity smaller than a light intensity of the main light pulse, and having energy smaller than energy in a fixed light pulse at the maximum light intensity from its leading-up to the leading-up of the main light pulse are made incident into a detecting optical fiber 15, prior to the main light pulse, and continuous light is made incident into the optical fiber 15. The strain and/or the temperature generated in the detecting optical fiber 15 are measured based on lights concerned in the Brillouin scattering phenomenon generated by interaction of the lights emitted from the detecting optical fiber 15.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
|
