<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly restore an intial state when power failure is recovered, even if data of a data file is destroyed by unexpected power failure. <P>SOLUTION: The data processing equipment provides a non-volatile memory part with a back-up area while storing a plurality of data files corresponding to each application respectively in a data file area. When either of application is selected from among application menus, the data processing equipment copies a data file corresponding to the application to the back-up area before starting data processing of the application. The data file corresponding to the application is deleted from the back-up area whenever data processing of the application is completed. The data processing equipment determines whether a data file is stored in the back-up file or not at the start-up.
