PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous emulsion type adhesive composition excellent in heat resistance and adhesiveness and having a characteristic of low volatile organic compound (VOC) content and an adhesive tape or an adhesive sheet. SOLUTION: The aqueous emulsion type adhesive composition comprises a (meth)acrylic acid 4-12C alkyl ester, a hydroxyl group-containing monomer, etc., as components and further comprises a rosin-based tackifier resin having 140-170°C softening temperature and being emulsified. The adhesive composition has 15-60 mass% gel content left as a solid content without causing dissolution when dissolving it into tetrahydrofuran and contains a component having 50,000-500,000 weight average molecular weight expressed in terms of polystyrene as a dissolution content and has a glass transition point of -75 to -20°C and has heat resistance.
