A tool for flanging a hole in an aluminiumcopper, bronze &c. pipe 15 comprises a two-part former 1, the sections 1a of which form a partspherical or part-conical surface 6 inside the pipe around the hole, means to rotate and simultaneously draw the surface outwardly against the periphery of the hole and form an external flange. The sections 1a are inserted singly and located in the bore 9 of a holder 3 by a pin 4. A bifurcated support 2, recessed at 14 to locate on the pipe, receives the holder in a bore and has left- or right-hand screw-threads 17 for a collar 18. A bar 12 for turning the holder 3 engages recesses 19 in the collar which it also rotates to effect endwise movement of the holder and former. Flats may be formed on the shank 5 of the former, or this may have a bayonet connection with the bore 9, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown). Branch pipes of copper may be secured by silver solder, one of P.V.C. being secured by an acrylic adhesive. |
