A solar thermal unit 1 adapted to fit into a holder 8 designed to hold one or more planes of glass 9, incorporating a fluid conduit, a light-absorbing surface 3 and insulating layers 4 to the side and rear of light absorbing surface 3. There may be a transparent cover 2 extending further than the housing for the fluid conduits and be of a suitable width, or have suitable adapters (10, fig 2) attached to it such that it can fit in a standard connector for a pane of glass in a window or the like. The connector may have an adaptor to make the unit wide enough to fit in a double-glazing connector (fig 4) or the cover may include a spacer (fig 3). The connector may have a male portion adapted to fit into a female connector for holding a pane of glass. |
