<p>An illuminating apparatus comprises a light source and an optical system for guiding the light from the light source to an imager such as a liquid crystal panel. The optical system has an optical element disposed for changing a traveling direction of the light traveling to the imager in accordance with a control signal. The optical element is controlled such that, out of all pixel regions on the imager, part of the light amount to be applied to low-brightness pixel regions is distributed to high-brightness pixel regions.</p> |
