The present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) protein or, a hTERT dominant negative variant thereof, or a function-conservative homolog thereof comprising the protein transduction domain (PTD) of hTERT, wherein the protein does not comprise and is not conjugated to any heterologous internalisation moiety.
