A static electricity malfunction control device in a personal computer for preventing the malfunction of the personal computer and a method thereof are provided to prevent the malfunction of the personal computer since a transmission mode is reset with reference to the stored transmission mode in case of being reset by the static electricity. A transmission mode is stored by interworking a driver(200). A control unit resets the transmission mode with reference to the transmission mode stored in the storage unit in case the static electricity is generated and the control unit is reset. The transmission mode is a PIO(Programmed Input Output) mode or a UDMA(Ultra Direct Memory Access) mode.
