1,227,294. Isomerizing and/or disproportionating alkylaromatics. MOBIL OIL CORP. 15 April, 1969 [18 April, 1968], No. 19265/69. Heading C5E. Alkylaromatics are isomerized and/or disproportionated in the presence of a crystalline zeolite having a given X-ray powder diffraction pattern, and known as ZSM-4 zeolites. The oxide composition of such zeolites is given as follows: where M is a cation of valency n, J is Al or Ga, Q is Si or Ge, and z is 0-20. Suitable cations are metals, NH 4 , H, alkylammonium and arylammonium. The zeolite may be composited with another zeolite, a clay, silica or any of a variety of oxides and oxide mixtures. The process is particularly suitable for isomerizing xylenes and disproportionating toluene, though other feeds are mentioned. |
