A key pad apparatus of a portable terminal is provided to recue power consumption and reduce a component cost by installing a light guiding unit inside the key pad without installing a light unit. Light source(230) is used as a light emitting unit of a liquid crystal display module(220). A key pad(210) is installed around the liquid crystal display module and is used as a data input unit. A light guide unit(240) is installed around the liquid crystal display module by being extended to the key pad. The light of the key pad is used as the light source of the liquid crystal display module. A substrate installs a plurality of metal domes at constant interval.
