PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an electrode foil for an aluminum electrolytic capacitor in which by allowing a phosphorous acid-containing acqueous solution to securely penetrate an etching opening, a defective portion is efficiently removed, and the reliability of the aluminum electrolytic capacitor can be improved. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing an electrode foil for an aluminum electrolytic capacitor for forming an anodic oxide coating on the front surface of an aluminum foil etched, the aluminum foil anodically oxidized to a predetermined formation voltage is subjected to depolarizing treatment for immersing the aluminum foil in a phosphorous acid-containing aqueous solution and applying an ultrasonic wave thereto. In the depolarizing treatment, the temperature of the phosphorous acid-containing aqueous solution is set to 40-80°C and the time to immerse the aluminum foil in the phosphorous acid-containing aqueous solution is set to 5-15 minutes.
